Crystal sword design

Sword design for author Sarah Clowder, who has a sword in her book series sometimes called "The Crystal Sword". It was supposed to have magic crystals on the hilt and a heart made by two crystals, each one kept by a partner of the wielder. It's a magic sword that can change in size, so I suggested making it adapt its hilt and blade to different sword types depending on size. The shortest one would be similar to a late viking sword, while the longest one would be closer to a hand-and-half longsword. The author also wanted a heart-shaped pommel, so I looked into some western european swords from around the 13th century to find something that could be ornate, keep the shape and still provide good support. I'm very hapy with how this has turned out, I always welcome any chance to merge magic elements with functional designs. And even more, with swords, of course.
